RIGERS "City regeneration: smart buildings and grids"
Proposed by: ICIE; CPL Concordia; S.A.T.A.; Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna; ITC-CNR; CMC; SACMI - Cooperativa Meccanica Imola
The project aims to set up experimental research and development activity in the priority area of “Sustainable architecture and materials” and envisages relations with the secondary areas of “Local safety” and “Smart grids”. It intends to develop an integrated system to regenerate buildings and grids with the aim of increasing the well-being and quality of life of citizens, proposing a multi-objective approach (energy, environmental, functional, seismic) that uses ICT as an instrument to provide a response to the city’s tangible needs.
SMART CONCRETE “Development of high performance, low cost technologies and efficient systems for internal structural monitoring and for safety implementation of concrete civil constructions and buildings”
Proposed by: Distretto Sicilia Micro e Nano Sistemi s.c.a.r.l; Effegi Elettronica SNC; INGV – National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology; Polytechnic of Turin; Spea S.P.A.; STMicroelectronics s.r.l.; University of Catania
Management and safety of civil infrastructures in reinforced and pre-stressed concrete play a major role in the context of structural engineering. During the last years, a growing awareness of the issues affecting the structural health monitoring and automatic learning has been developed, in particular in the field of reinforced concrete structures. This phenomenon has developed mainly thanks to the awareness of technicians who have introduced and developed the concept of smart structures in civil engineering, as already done in other fields. The Smart Concrete project aims at investigating and developing novel, high technological solutions to guarantee higher structural safety and sustainability in civil constructions.
