(VELINO) Roma, 14 Jan - Italian Literary Landscapes, walksaiming to show landscapes, buildings, city centres, and museumsconnected to the life or work of the country's great writers,were presented in Oslo, during the city's Tourism Fair. Thepresentation was designed and performed by the Italian embassyin Norway with the Dante Alighieri Society and LiteraryLandscapes. Ambassador Giorgio Novello recalled the crucialrole played by literature and language in defining the nationalidentities of Norway and Italy, drawing a parallel between thetwo. Literature can build international bridges, he said, andcited the case of a Norwegian businessman in Italy who calledhis tourist resort after a well known piece of Norwegianliterature, Markens Groede by Knut Hamsun. In this context, hesaid, the Literary Landscapes concept may be of interest to thedemanding Norwegian public. vel.
