(VELINO) Roma, 26 Jan - Bulgaria joins in the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of Ludovico Ariosto's Orlando Furioso. The gestures of Vatrano, chief of the Bulgarians, are mentioned in two cantos of Ariosto's famous work and poet Kiril Hrisov translated them into Bulgarian in 1911. The Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Sofia ha organized a monographic exhibition of the Valgrisian edition of 1556 with drawings by Dosso Dossi. "In a civilization such as ours where images prevail, it is important to remember that strips and soap operas are not a recent invention," said the IIC Director. The exhibition shows that these genres, in essence, existed already five hundred years ago. The exhibition, hosted at the premises of the Italian high school Gorna Banja in the capital city, will run through January 31. vel
