Writer Paolo Giordano tours Eastern Europe

(AGI) Prague, March 8 - Italian writer Paolo Giordano has embarked on a tour through Eastern Europe, where his latest novel "Like Family" has been released in Hungarian, Slovak and Czech. In the Czech capital, the author spoke with students of Italian Studies at the Charles IV University's Philosophy Faculty. He was accompanied by the translator of his novels, Alice Flemrova. At central Prague's Palac knih Luxor library, Giordano presented to the public his three works: "The Solitude of Prime Numbers", "The Human Body" and "Like Family". He explained how the three books show a clear continuity, each highlighting a different moment of the same life, recorded and transformed into a sort of encrypted journal. At the meeting were the Italian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Aldo Amati, and the director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Prague Giovanni Scioli. "I don't see the exact sciences and literature as conflicting. Writing for me is an attempt to reconcile the two languages," said Giordano, graduate in physics and accomplished writer, winner of the Premio Strega literary award. "A good writer sees even the smallest nuances, while maintaining a more candid, ruthless and diligent relationship with the truth," he added. (AGI).
