Tirana - The 'Ventaglio d'Arpe' Orchestra will make their debut in Albania by performing at the Cultural Center of Tirana's Orthodox Cathedral on April 8. This orchestra, unique for its characteristics, was set up in 2004 by the ingenious idea of its director, Patrizia Tassini.
At first conceived as a course for orchestral rehearsals at Udine's Conservatorio J. Tomadini, the group turned into a stable orchestra of classical harps only. Made up of students and alumni, it has 23 females and 3 males. To date, the orchestra has performed over 90 concerts in Italy and abroad.
Following the Tirana performance, organised by the Italian Cultural Institute, the 'Ventaglio d'Arpe' will perform in Vlora's Petro Marko Theatre on April 9. The programme features music by Vangelis, Antonin Dvorak, P.Ciajkovskij, Aulon Naci, G.Rossini, G.Bizet, R. Ortiz, Bernard Andres, A.Pizzolla, N.Piovani, Harold Harlen, R.Shermann, and G. D'Andrea.
