(AGI) Rome, Apr 26 - TerniEnergia has just completed the first of two 'giant' building sites in South Africa for a major Italian utility company. The site area has been connected through a short high voltage line to the national Eskom grid. TerniEnergia Projects PTY Ltd, the South African subsidiary of TerniEnergia, has completed the Paleisheuwel plant with a total installed power of 82.5 MWp ahead of the scheduled time envisaged by the final engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts and an operation and maintenance programme (O&M) with a four-year renewable contract, still complying with the expected economic outcome. The Paleisheuwel plant, which covers a surface area of 240 hectares, has employed over 500 workers to install 611,000 photovoltaic panels, with a power between 125 Wp and 140 Wp. A total of 101,850 frames have been set up, using 7 million kg of structural metalwork, and 3000 km of electric cables have been installed. TerniEnergia worked with six subcontractors and in compliance with the policy of black economic empowerment (BEE).
