Rome - Malwarebytes, the California-based company for IT security, has acquired the Italian start-up Saferbytes, founded by Marco Giuliani. The Italian firm specialises in the protection of firms from malware and viruses not detected by traditional protection systems. An official press release released by the American company announced that Malwarebytes will integrate Saferbytes anti-malware solutions in its security package for corporations. For Malwarebytes the acquisition will be a way "of further advancing the company's market approach and global strategy."
The details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. Saferbytes was founded in Perugia in 2012 and became renowned on the market for its Deepviz platform, which analyses the malware threats in real time for its clients, pinpointing and neutralising them. "We are committed to keeping customers safe from the most dangerous cyber threats through continued advancement of our technologies," said Marcin Klecznski, Malwarebytes CEO. "Adding Saferbytes to the Malwarebytes team is a crucial step in enhancing our incident response offering and expanding our global footprint as a company. We have been incredibly impressed with what they have built," said Mr Kleczynski.
Malwarebytes was founded in 2008 in Santa Clara and received funds for 80 million dollars in two investment rounds between 2015 and 2016. These resources positioned it among the world leaders in IT security. The company is now fit to make key acquisitions in order to strengthen its position on the market, starting with Italy, as this is the first acquisition for Malwarebytes. Marco Giuliani, CEO of Saferbytes, attended Perugia University's Computer Science course, said on behalf of his staff that they are "truly excited" to join forces with Malwarebytes. "I have always envied the team at Malwarebytes for building innovative technologies and developing one of the most popular anti-malware solutions on the market. Since meeting the Malwarebytes executive team for the first time, it was clear to me that we shared the same vision for building technologies to enable our customers to have the best protection possible."
