(AGI) Muscat, April 15 - The Italian "Opera Domani" project,whose mission is to get young people and children interested inthe opera, brought Mozart's "The Magic Flute" to Muscat's RoyalOpera House. For four days, thousands of Omani children had thechance to sing the arias of one of Mozart's most famous piecesalongside professional singers. The event required carefulplanning, with teachers from Como's Social Theatre andAs.Li.Co. (an Italian lyrical and concert association) startingfive months earlier to engage and work with teachers andstudents in the Omani schools to promote an interactiveapproach towards the project. The opera was sung in English andfully subtitled in Arabic; the children were also given theopportunity to sing the piece in Italian and Arabic for thevery first time, while the acting roles were dubbed by twoOmani performers. The show, called "Il Flauto Magico, ovverocome sconfiggere i mostri" (The Magic Flute: Or How to DefeatMonsters), led by young director Stefano Simone Pintor, becamea shared experience with the spectators, who began to take partin the singing from their seats. Over the years, this new wayof viewing and presenting musical education has reached solidground and been exported to France, Spain, Belgium, and Germanythanks to international co-productions.
