(AGI) Albacete (Spain), Jan 26 - At least 10 people were killedin an accident on Monday at the Spanish Las Lanos base inAlbacete, when a Greek F16 crashed during a NATO pilot trainingprogramme. Around 10 people were injured in the accident, ElPais reported. According to the Spanish daily, the F16 camedown on an area where other aircraft were waiting to take off.Witnesses said that the F16 crashed at take-off due to a lackof power. Others spoke of an explosion followed by fire. Theinjured included nine Italian troops. Two of them have beentaken to hospital for tests, while the others suffered onlymild injuries, the Italian Chief of General Staff said. TheGreek jet participated in the Tactical Leadership Programme(TLP), along with many other NATO aircraft, including two AMXground-attack aircraft of the Italian Air Force and five AV-8BHarrier II jets of the Italian Navy. Family members of allpersonnel involved in the accident have been informed. TheTactical Leadership Programme (TLP) was launched after anagreement was signed by 10 countries (Italy, Spain, UnitedStates, United Kingdom, France , Belgium, Netherlands, Greece,Germany and Denmark). Its mission is to improve theeffectiveness of air operations conducted by the allied forcespromoting the development of leadership, analysis, planning,execution and evaluation skills of combined (international)aerial activities. The programme moved to the air base ofAlbacete in July 2009. Italy joined the TLP as a signatorynation in January 1996. . .
