(AGI) Rome, Sept 2 - The migrant crisis in Europe shows no signof letting up. Italy has said it will bolster border controlsat the Brenner Pass, while the decision by the Czech police tomark the arms of migrants arriving at the Austrian border withnumbers in felt-tip pen is causing unease. The situation inBudapest remains tense, as 2,000 migrants spent the nightcamping outside the central station after being prevented fromboarding trains to Austria and Germany. Following a requestfrom Berlin, the Italian government has said it is prepared tostep up border controls at the Brenner Pass, in conformity withthe Schengen Agreement. The Province of Bolzano is set to takein 300-400 refugees as a temporary measure, enabling Bavaria toimplement provisions for tackling the emergency. Germany ispreparing to change its Constitution in order to speed up andmanage the migrant crisis. "We will have to adapt everything inview of the changing scenario: schools, police, construction,food, health system, everything!", said Germany's InteriorMinister Thomas De Maiziere in an interview with the weeklyZeit. "There are also changes to be made to the Constitutionand these need to be made very fast, within just a few weeks",he added. Meanwhile, the European Court of Justice hasadmonished Italy for the excessive cost of residence permits(between 80 and 200 euros) for immigrants, saying it iscontrary to the European directive on the status of thirdcountry citizens for lengthy stays. In Breclav, Czech Republic,gloved police on the Austrian border are marking the arms ofmigrants arriving by train with their train and carriagenumber, even children. This is an unwelcome reminder of one ofEurope's darkest hours, and is giving rise to controversy. Ofthe 2,000 refugees camped outside Budapest's Keleti station,most are Syrians, along with some Iraqis and Afghans. Hundredsof people are protesting, under the eye of the police,demanding to be allowed to leave for Germany. The authoritiessaid they had intercepted 2,284 refugees, including 353 minors,attempting to enter the country illegally on Tuesday. (AGI) . .
