(AGI) Rome, May 11 - Film directors Francesco Munzi and MarioMartone will be in a head-to-head race for the 2015 David diDonatello award. They received the largest number ofnominations, announced Gian Luigi Rondi, President of the Daviddi Donatello awards, at the headquarters of broadcaster RAI onMonday. Francesco Munzi's "Black Souls" ("Anime Nere") received16 nominations, two more than Mario Martone's "Leopardi" ("Ilgiovane favoloso"). The prestigious statuettes will be awardedat 6:30 p.m. on June 12 at Rome's Teatro Olimpico. The othercontenders are Nanni Moretti, who won 10 nominations with "MyMother" ("Mia madre"), Gabriele Salvatores, with 10 nominationsfor "The Invisible Boy" ("Il ragazzo invisibile"), ErmannoOlmi, with eight nominations for "Torneranno i prati", SaverioCostanzo and Edoardo Leo, with seven nominations each for"Hungry Hearts" and "Noi e la Giulia". The 59th edition of theDavid di Donatello awards will be presented by Tullio Solenghiand broadcast live on Rai Movie and replicated later on RaiUno. The magnificent five at the awards will be FrancescoMunzi, Mario Martone, Ermanno Olmi, Saverio Costanzo and NanniMoretti, plus Gabriele Salvatores. The face-off will be between"Black Souls" by Munzi and Martone's "Leopardi". The top fivefemale lead roles include Alba Rohrwacher for "Hungry Hearts",Virna Lisi for "Latin Lover", Margherita Buy for "My Mother",Jasmine Trinca for "Nessuno si salva da solo" and PaolaCortellesi for "Scusate se esisto!". In competition for thebest male lead role are Fabrizio Ferracane for "Black Souls",Elio Germano for "Leopardi", Alessandro Gassman per "Il Nomedel Figlio", Riccardo Scamarcio for "Nessuno si salva da solo"and Marco Giallini for "Se Dio Vuole". The David for the BestShort and the David Young Prize will be adjudicated by a juryof more than 6,000 secondary school students from all overItaly and awarded by Luigi Abete, the President of BNL GroupBNP Paribas bank.
