EU asks Italy to tighten its budget
(AGI) Brussels, June 2 - The European Commission asked Italy onMonday to tighten its budget this year, but fell short ofopening a disciplinary procedure. Along with Slovenia andCroatia, the other countries with excessive macroeconomicimbalances, Italy will be closely monitored with regard to thereforms already put in place and those recommended by theCommission on Monday, Vice-President Olli Rehn said.
