This project aims to address innovative technical & managing aspects involved in both human and robotic underwater operations. The divers can perform tasks in deep water up to 300 m (typically 150-200 m), breathing mixture of helium and oxygen at high pressure. This activity involves the use of: bell housing, to move and assist the SDs up to the operating depth; surface hyperbaric chamber system, during periods of rest from work and for pressurization and decompression; a pressurized Health Rescue System (HRC) boat, for SD crew evacuation in the case of severe damage to the ship and / or platform support.

Objective of the project is to develop an integrated and smart maritime surveillance system able to continuously monitor the chemical and physical parameters of the coastal waters; this will increase the security of navigation, fishing and swimming. The project S4E plans to develop an integrated system capable of intelligently: allow a continuous and pervasive monitoring of physical and chemical parameters of the water column, simplify monitoring and increase safety in coastal areas, with particular reference to marine protected areas, facilitate and monitor the navigation in areas not served by traditional radar systems.
