(VELINO) Roma, 9 Oct - The coordination meeting of scienceattaches, to take place at the Foreign Ministry on Oct. 13 aimsto create an even better "system" for the comprehensivepromotion of Italian excellence abroad. The meeting will bringtogether scientific attaches and everyone involved in thesystem of "Science, technology and innovation in Italy",Ambassador Andrea Meloni, Directorate General for CountryPromotion (DGSP) of the Foreign Ministry told Pei News. Alongwith ministers Paolo Gentiloni and Stefania Giannini, who willopen proceedings, there will be 27 attaches (including twospecialised in space), and the expert in research issues at thePermanent Representation in Brussels. Invitations have alsobeen accepted by the heads of Italian research centres, anumber of rectors, including the President of the Rectors'Conference, private foundations, and two regional sciencecouncillors (Trentino and Campania). A top level businessrepresentation will include Italian employers' organisationConfindustria, Lombardy region employers' associationAssolombarda, and a representative of a business networkspecifically devoted to research. The event will be dividedinto two sessions: in the first the lines on which work isbeing conducted in Italy will be explained to the attaches,both by a representative of the Ministry of Education,University and Research who will present the national researchplan and by the universities, with the President of the CRUI(Conference of Italian University Chancellors) and the Rectorof Turin Polytechnic, Ambassador Meloni explained. There willalso be a representative of private foundations as well as theSwiss ambassador responsible for international research inorder to evaluate how best to initiate forms of cooperation.However, the afternoon session will be dedicated entirely toinnovation; that is, how scientific attaches can help make thelink between research, universities and industry, concluded thegeneral director. vel.
