(VELINO) Roma, 9 Sep - "Buenos Aires ricorda Giorgio Bassani", an event organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Buenos Aires and the Association of Professors and Researchers of Italian Language and Literature (ADILLI), is scheduled for 12 September. The event, designed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Italian writer Giorgio Bassani, will be attended by the writer's daughter Paola Bassani Pacht. Giorgio Bassani (1916-2000) was a prominent figure in Italy's cultural scene in the second half of the 20th century. A writer, university professor, scriptwriter, and editor, he penned novels such as "The Garden of the Finzi-Continis", "The Gold-Rimmed Spectacles", "Five Stories of Ferrara", "The Heron", and "The Smell of Hay". He dedicated his later years to civil society, founding the civil association "Italia Nostra" for the protection of Italy's artistic and environmental heritage and acting as its president for 15 years. vel
