(AGI) Los Angeles, California, March 2 - A video showing atleast six LAPD officers beating and shooting dead a homelessman after an argument was published on Facebook and is raisinga wave of criticism. The man was repeatedly beaten before anofficer fired five shots in the central Los Angeles Skid Rowarea. The circumstances of the incident are not clear, but thevideo shows the man waving something at the officers while theybeat him. Officers can also be seen grabbing another man whohad seized one of the truncheons they used to beat the homelessman.

A voice is heard screaming "drop the gun" and five shotsare then fired in rapid succession. Bystanders filming the scene with a cell phone, can beheard shouting: "You killed him ... we've recorded the wholething." The man was declared dead at a hospital. The LosAngeles Times reported police were answering a call to catch athief, while a witness said that the man was fighting withanother homeless person in his tent.
