(AGI) New Delhi, June 25 - The case of the two Italian marinesheld for the killing of two Indian fishermen at the IndianSupreme Court has been further postponed. The next hearing, scheduled for July 7, will probably be held on July 14. TheCourt, India's highest judicial body, will have to decide onthe appeal filed by Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Gironeagainst the use of officers of the National InvestigationAgency (NIA) in their trial. In late April, the Supreme Courthad decided to postpone until after the two-month summer breakon July 1, the examination of all 20 pending cases includingthat of the two marines. This is despite the fact that the sameIndian judges at the hearing of Apr. 9 censured what they sawas the delaying tactics of the Italian defence counsel, forattempting to postpone the start of the trial. The hearing willnow take place on July 15, the eve of the deadline of threemonths granted to Latorre to stay in Italy to continuetreatment for the stroke he suffered in August 2014 and heartsurgery on Jan. 5. Meanwhile, on July 7 a hearing is scheduledbefore the Special Court in New Delhi, which will conduct thetrial. However, the beginning of the criminal proceedings hasthus far always been postponed awaiting a Supreme Courtdecision on the appeal filed by the two riflemen.. .
