Wednesday June 17 WAME (World Access to Modern Energy) Workshop “Renewable Energy and Innovation towards Sustainable Energy for All”, is taking place at Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan. The development of energy generation from renewable sources and of technology may make the difference towards sustainable energy for all. Access to “modern” energy means access to electricity and clean and efficient ways of cooking and heating the home, but worldwide 1.3 billion people still have no access to electricity and 2.6 billion people are without clean cooking facilities.
The potential contribution of renewable sources for the UN target “Sustainable Energy for All” is important because they are largely available in particular in areas where development of the grids is not foreseen. Moreover, technology is progressing quickly and with a significant impact on the availability of energy in particular in remote areas where access to energy is still lacking.
What is the role of renewables and innovation in reaching the objective of SE4All? Two key elements are access to modern energy as presented by scholars, technicians, policy makers and cooperation among practitioners., June 17 2015, 2:30 p.m. Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia “Leonardo da Vinci” - via San Vittore 21, Milan
