Mediterranean migration operation to begin next month

(AGI) Luxembourg, June 22 - An EU navy mission against migranttrafficking in the Mediterranean will begin next month. Head ofmilitary operations of the EU, Captain Enrico Credentino, willsubmit the first phase of the operation when Foreign Ministersmeet again on July 20. The mission will be considered to be"fully operational" while further actions are considered. Thisoperation will require United Nations support or an agreementwith Libya, which is far from being accomplished. The missioninvolves a complex scenario as there has already been attackson European vessels which could lead to problems during rescueoperations.
