(AGI) - New Delhi, 24 nov. - Indian Bollywood actor Aamir Khanhas once again opened a debate on tolerance in India. Khan, whowas present in a journalism awards ceremony, said that he was"alarmed" over the rise in acts of intolerance in India in the"last six to eight months". He said that his filmmaker wifeKiran Rao had even suggested leaving the country. Aamir in aprogram said that a sense of "insecurity" and "fear" had beengrowing in India. "Kiran (wife) and I have lived all our livesin India. For the first time, she said, should we move out ofIndia? That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to maketo me," said Khan which was quoted by Indian Express newspaperwho organized the program. In the last few months, many Indian scientists, historiansand filmmakers returned their state awards against what theycalled raising intolerance in the country. They had cited themurder of rationalists MM Kalburgi and Govind Pansare, apartfrom the lynching of a man in India over rumours of consumingbeef, as an examples of growing intolerance in the country.However, his statement reinvigorated the debate about toleranceon social media with many speaking for and against him.
