VERDI OPENS NEW SEASON AT ROYAL OPERA HOUSE MUSCAT

(VELINO) Roma, 22 Sep - The Royal Opera House Muscat in Omanhosted three performances of the opera Macbeth from Sept. 18and a lyrical symphonic concert on Sept. 21. The performanceswere held with the support of the Italian Embassy in theSultanate. Donato Renzetti, of the Orchestra and Chorus ofTeatro Verdi, directed. The singers included: Michael Chioldi(Macbeth), Csilla Boross (Lady Macbeth), Giorgio Giuseppini(Banquo) Luciano Ganci (Macduff) and also, Saverio Fiore, MariaCioppi, Gabriele Ribis, and Christian Starinieri. Theperformances and concert opened the 2014-15 season at theMuscat Opera, which hosts some of the most prestigiousensembles in the world. The opera house was established bySultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, a great admirer of Europeanmusical culture, who wants to compete with the most prestigioustheatrical institutions internationally and to create the mosttechnologically advanced opera house in the world. Muscat'sOpera House has 1,100 seats and uses innovative multimediainteractive technology. The sheik wants to create one of themain cultural centres in the Persian Gulf.
