(VELINO) Roma, 27 Jun - The U.S.-Italy Workgroup on EarthSciences and Natural Resources held a videoconference meeting,with Italian academics and officials hosted at the ItalianForeign Ministry in Rome. Italy's INGV geophysics andvolcanology institute and the United States Geological Surveyalso signed a letter of intent on joint initiatives on seismicand volcanic monitoring and geophysical research. "Theagreement highlights common areas of interest [...] and areasof potential future cooperation," said INGV President StefanoGresta. The U.S.-Italy Workgroup was established as part of abroader science and technology cooperation agreement betweenItaly and the U.S., and focuses on sharing knowledge andacademic transfers.
