(VELINO) Roma, 27 Nov - A concert by the Santa Cicilia musicacademy was hosted by the Italian ambassador to Panama at thepresentation ceremony of the Italo-Panamanian youth orchestra.It was part of the cultural cooperation between the twocountries. The orchestra, which combines students of the musicacademy and local players, will give its first concert inJanuary in Panama. The evening was also an opportunity topresent other cultural cooperation projects to be launched overthe next year as part of "The Year of Italy in Latin America",promoted by the Foreign Ministry to strengthen Italy'srelations with the continent. The event was attended by Italianambassador Giancarlo Curcio, director of the Italian CulturalInstitute, Mariana Nunez, director of the Santa Cecilia musicacademy, maestro Alfredo Santoloci and painter Olga Sinclair.Projects include a painting competition dedicated to AmedeoModigliani, organised with the help of the Olga SinclairFoundation. Thousands of children in the largest cities ofPanama will reproduce paintings of the famous artist fromLivorno. The top 10 will win a trip to Italy and a visit to anexhibition of Panamanian painters in Rome. Soprano IvanaCanovic and tenor Aleandro Mariani were accompanied on thepiano by Pasquale Lucia at the concert, and were joined bybaritone and opera star Ricardo Velazquez. vel.
