(AGI) Vienna, June 27 - The 23rd Mittelfest festival, whichwill be held in Cividale del Friuli from July 19 to 27, waspresented at the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna. Theevent was held for the first time in 1991 in the town innorthern Italy, which is on the UNESCO heritage list. Thepresentation was attended by the mayor of Cividale del Friuli,Stephen Balloch, by the president of Mittelfest, FedericoRossi, by artistic director Franco Calabretto, and by theatreart consultant, Rita Maffei. (AGI) Vienna, June 27 - The 23rd Mittelfest festival, whichwill be held in Cividale del Friuli from July 19 to 27, waspresented at the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna. Theevent was held for the first time in 1991 in the town innorthern Italy, which is on the UNESCO heritage list. Thepresentation was attended by the mayor of Cividale del Friuli,Stephen Balloch, by the president of Mittelfest, FedericoRossi, by artistic director Franco Calabretto, and by theatreart consultant, Rita Maffei. As a special prologue to thefestival, a concert will be held for the victims of the WorldWars on July 9, when maestro Riccardo Muti will direct GiuseppeVerdi's Requiem in the presence of the presidents of Italy,Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. The festival was presented inAustria for the first time since its foundation, as a gestureof goodwill to the country, said Italian ambassador in Vienna,Giorgio Marrapodi. Austria has been a driving force behind theformation of closer ties between countries in Central Europe,and the country chairs the Central European Initiative (CEI)this year, the ambassador pointed out.. .
