The Italian semester in the EUpresidency was launched in London on July 3, during a concertorganised by Ambassador Terracciano at the church of St. Johnin Smith Square, Westminster, the political heart of the UnitedKingdom and the headquarters of the EU representative officesin London. During the semester, the Italian Embassy has alsoorganised other events with distinguished representatives ofvarious sectors, with the aim of focusing on issues to promotea stronger partnership with London, in the light of the strongcoincidence of views with the Italian Presidency. The Italiandiplomatic mission organised themed conferences focusing onalternative funding for SMEs, non-tariff barriers, and theTransatlantic Partnership for Trade and Investment, which isbeing negotiated between the EU and the U.S. vel.
