(VELINO) Roma, 1 Jul - The photographic exhibitions"Evaporations" and "I Rinnovati" by Giovanni Lentini opened inSt. Petersburg with the support of the Italian CulturalInstitute and Consulate-General. "Evaporations" comprises 38black-and-white photographs taken by the Italian-Americanartist between 2012 and 2013 in St. Petersburg, Geneva,Salonicco, Chicago, New York, and Naples. The photographsrecount a solitary voyage and depict silent figures against thebackground of the city shorelines. "Evaporations" was sponsoredand supported by the Italian Consulate-General and the ItalianCultural Institute in St. Petersburg and is listed on theofficial programme for the Russia-Italy Year of Tourism. Thesecond exhibition, "I Rinnovati", opened in the presence ofConsul General Luigi Estero and features shots of a smallreligious community in the Sicilian town of Corleone. Fortytouching black-and-white photographs of Franciscan friarsgathered in prayer or taken during their everyday activitiesshow how life really is within the monastery. Ten prints fromphotographic archives from other Franciscan Friars of Renewalcommunities have also been included in the exhibition. Speakersat the inaugural press conference along with the artist werethe Mayor of Corleone, Leoluchina Savona, Corleone's councillorfor Productive Activities, Calogero de Miceli, and Friar Eliafrom the convent of Franciscan Friars of Renewal in Naples. vel.
