(VELINO) Roma, 23 Jun - An Italian Design vs Brazilian Designconference will be held in San Paolo on Wednesday, June 25. Theevent is hosted and organised by the Italian CulturalInstitute, in partnership with FNAC and the European Instituteof Design (IED). The conference will be addressed by ProfessorFabiano Pereira, coordinator of the MA in Strategic Design atIED in San Paolo, and a member of the MA programme of theFaculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the city's university.Italy and Brazil have an established relationship in variousareas, especially design, with many events. These recentlyincluded a show in Sao Paulo on "Vespa: an Italian icon" andone in Rio de Janeiro on "Leaders of Italian Design". There isalso a growing interest in the use of design in business. Therehave been several bilateral missions by businessmen, especiallyin the footwear industry. The special place that design has inItalo-Brazilian relations was confirmed when the BrazilianMuseum of Sculpture (MUBE) in San Paolo hosted "Exchanging &Shaping the Space - O Design Made in Italy" in May. It includedworkshops, lectures and an exhibition devoted to facets ofItalian design. Further conferences have been devoted to "Italydesign in Brazil". There was a contribution from architect anddesigner Pedro Paulo Franco Santoro on May 13; and "The Poliproject. Design and professional training in Brazil" on May 14, with Sheila Brabo, head of Area Design - Senai-SP. vel.
