BRAZIL FEATURES THE 'SETTIMANA VENEZIA CINEMA' 2014

(VELINO) Roma, 2 Dec - The tenth edition of 'Settimana VeneziaCinema' is currently taking place in Brazil. Starting in thecity of Brasilia, it will continue in Belo Horizonte, Curitiba,Rio de Janeiro, closing on Dec. 15 in Sao Paulo. The event,which aims to bring new Italian cinema to Brazil, has beenorganised by the Italian Embassy in the country, together withthe Venice Biennial. This year the event features a review ofItalian films on show at the 71st Venice International FilmFestival. Four of the five films selected represent Italiancontemporary film production, namely: "Il giovane favoloso" byMario Martone, "Italy in a day" by Gabriele Salvatores, "Lazuppa del demonio" by Davide Ferrario and "Io sto con la sposa"by Agugliaro, Del Grande and Al Nassiry. The fifth film is aclassic of Italian cinema -Ettore Scola's "Una giornataparticolare". "The event offers a collection of the bestItalian films on show at the Venice Film Festival," explainedRaffaele Trombetta, the Italian Ambassador to Brazil. "Thisyear we have the privilege of showing, in the Venice Classicssection, Ettore Scola's masterpiece restored in digital formatby Rome's Cineteca Nazionale," he added. Brazil has been thefirst country to host the 'Venezia Cinema Italiano' eventabroad. The country was selected as part of a strategy aimingto launch the Venice Biennial which, for over 100 years, hasbeen promoting also the world of Arts and Architectureorganised in Venice. vel.
