(VELINO) Roma, 11 Feb - Italian ambassador to Sarajevo, Ruggero Corrias, in recent days met Deputy President of the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sefik Dzaferovic. During the meeting, the diplomat and lawmaker exchanged views on the country's path to EU membership, stressing that efforts to align with European standards need to continue and intensify after the important stage of submission of a membership application. Corrias and Dzaferovic then discussed the issue of cooperation between the respective parliaments, which could be further deepened with the conclusion of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) proposed by the President of the Chamber of Deputies Laura Boldrini to Dzaferovic, on the occasion of her visit to Bosnia of last July. "Vice President of the Parliament Dzaferovic agreed that it was important for reforms and coordination on EU matters to continue after the application for EU membership, the starting point of a journey that will measure step-by-step the political will of Bosnia to accelerate its path of integration," said Ambassador Corrias. "Italy remains an essential partner in this effort and with Dzaferovic we reiterated that parliamentary cooperation is functional to the advancement of this process," she concluded. vel
