Karachi - The Italian Navy Ship CARABINIERE (F-593) is in Pakistan for a goodwill visit. On completion of the Karachi port visit, an exercise at the Arabian Sea was planned between Pakistan Navy Flotilla and visiting Italian navy ship which will cover wide range of naval operations.
According to the state-broadcaster Radio Pakistan, the visiting ship was accorded a warm welcome during an impressive reception ceremony and received by senior officials of Pakistan Navy and Italian Embassy Staff including Ambassador and Defence Attache of Italy in Pakistan.
The visit is aimed at strengthening mutual collaboration and interoperability between the two navies through exercises and reciprocal calls on. During the stay at Karachi, the officers and men of the ship will hold professional interaction with counterparts from Pakistan Navy on the subjects of mutual interest, it added.
Italian Military Ship FREMM reached Karachi after completing a tour of many countries. The FREMM is a symbol of technological excellence of the Italian ship building industry. According to a communique by the Italian diplomatic mission, the visit of FREMM will further enhance the bonds of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense and transfer of technology.
As a highly sophisticated ship, the FREMM Carabiniere of the Italian Navy is equipped with state of the art technology and is said to be the jewel of the Italian Naval Fleet.Later in the day, the Italian Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo called governor of the southern Sindh province Mohammad Zubair. The Ambassador was accompanied by the Commander of visiting Italian Navy Ship Carabiniere Massimo Pagnotta. Matters relating to the investment opportunities in various sectors in the province were discussed during the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor invited the Italian investors to take benefit of the investment opportunities in Pakistan.
