Angola: remains the largest African oil producer in September

(AGI) - Luanda, Oct. 13 - Angola was in September, for the seventh consecutive month, the Africa's largest oil producer, with an estimated 1.766 million of daily crude barrels, announced today the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec), in its monthly report about world production. This record reflects a further decline in Angolan production, this time in the order of 14,100 barrels per day, compared to August. Angola still remains ahead of Nigeria, in the month in reference, who produced 1.524 million barrels per day, an increase compared to August when produced 1.429 million barrels per day. According to the same information, Angola produced on average in the first half of the year, 1.77 million barrels of crude oil per day. Angola faces from late 2014 a profound economic, financial and currency crisis due to the sharp drop in oil revenues. In less than two years, the country saw the barrel exported spend more than usd 100 for average sales in the first half of this year, usd 36 per barrel, according to the Ministry of Finance. Nigeria, which began in 2016 - and as accumulated in previous years - to lead the African list of oil production with 1.853 million barrels per day (against 1.742 million of Angola), saw production go down to 1.444 million in May, the lowest value of the year, according to Opec. Terrorist attacks, armed groups and internal political instability have conditioned production in Nigeria.
