(AGI) - Salerno, 20 lug. - “In Italy the first real startup was Giffoni born 46 years ago through the idea of a young innovator, Claudio Gubitosi. I'm here to help innovators of today who have the courage to believe in new projects. No laws is needed but the contribution of each" said the Labour Minister Giuliano Poletti, during his visit to Giffoni, talking with the under 20 years innovators of the final competition "TechGarage 2016 - A scuola di Startup 2016". The project promotes the transformation of youngs' ideas into businesses and is promoted by aulab, pixel, Giffoni Innovation Hub, Techgarage, Microsoft YouthSpark and Cariplo Foundation, HP and Cisco. The competition involved 30 schools and more than 5000 students for more than 1000 business ideas. 20 teams, selected from all over Italy, have faced a challenge in Giffoni . "The adventure of Techgarage - said Luca Tesauro, CEO of Giffoni Innovation Hub ( giffonihub.com ) – is a concrete example of how Giffoni helps teenagers to realize their dreams. We share our mission with international and institutional partners, entrepreneurs and investors to turn the Sud of Italy in the most dynamic hub, an ideas' accellerator for young people". It won the national final the startup 'From Italian to L.I.S', a translator from Italian to the language of signs L.I.S. Main feature. The startup also won the Hp special prize. Second place went to 'Devlounge tournament platform', automated platform for the tournament management, which allows better communication between organizers, players and publishers. Third place for 'Carstom' to create a fully customizable and programmable model car driven by bluethooth / Wi-fi technology from an app downloaded from the phone or through oculus technology. “Techgarage is a necessary opportunity for young Italian innovators - says Gianluca Dettori, general partner of Barcamper Ventures and vice president of Techgarage - In Italy we invest lesser than most of the countries of Europe. France, for example, in 10 years invested in startups 15 times more than Italy, 100 million euros versus 1 billion euro a year. That's why we are launching a new fund called Barcamper Ventures: 50 million euro to be reinvested in startups. The project is linked to what we always do by Barcamper ideas' acceleration". (AGI)
