European economic sentiment drops below long term average

(AGI) Brussels, Sept 29 - The economic sentiment index dropped0.7 points to 99.9 in the eurozone in September, and by a pointto 103.6. in the EU. The index is calculated by the EuropeanCommission using consumer confidence indicators and the viewsof production and economic sector leaders. The September figuredropped below the long term average, which it exceeded inDecember. The negative trend, the commission explains, reflectsgreater caution among consumers and the retail sector.
