(AGI) Paris, Apr 3 - Data from the second black box recoveredfrom the wreckage of the Germanwings Airbus has confirmed thatco-pilot Andreas Lubitz crashed the plane deliberately. He wasat the controls as the plane accelerated several times duringits descent, before crashing in the French Alps on Mar. 24. TheFrench BEA crash investigation team said: "A first readingshows that the pilot in the cockpit used the automatic pilot todescend towards an altitude of 100ft (30m). Then, several timesduring the descent, the pilot changed the automatic pilotsettings to increase the aircraft's speed." This appears toconfirm the theory that Mr Lubitz deliberately crashed theplane, with 150 people on board. The second black box, wasfound on Thursday after a 10-day search. German prosecutorsinvestigating Andreas Lubitz's past have searched the surgeriesof five doctors who saw him over the last few years, accordingto Der Spiegel magazine. It reports that the doctors werepsychiatrists and neurologists, and some confirmed they hadtreated Mr Lubitz. The medical notes have been confiscated. TheGermanwings crash is likely to have financial repercussions forparent company Lufthansa, although these are likely to be lesscrippling than the effects of the 1988 Lockerbie disaster forPan Am. Lufthansa shares closed 3 percent down at a four-monthlow on Friday, after a Barclays downgrade. Fifteen analystshave revised Lufthansa's profits down over the last 30 days, although the company says the crash has not affected itsbalance sheet. It is one of the few large airlines to have keptan investment-grade rating from Standard and Poors, despitecompeting with budget airlines, long-haul flights and MiddleEastern companies, which are eroding its market share inEurope. Lufthansa has announced investment cuts for 2016-17 totackle financial difficulties, which are likely to includecompensation payouts. It is also planning to launch hybridbonds. (AGI). .
