September 19 is the National Day of Palestine at Expo Milano 2015. The official ceremony will begin at 11:00 on the stage of the Expo Center with the flag-raising and the Italian and Palestinian national anthems. Leading the Palestinian delegation will be Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Abu Amr who will make the official speech. At the end the group El-Funoun will perform a traditional folk dance. Formed in 1979, its goal is to pass on the Arab-Palestinian spirit and traditional folklore through a combination of music and dance.
Cultural performances lined up at the Auditorium
The Palestinian delegation will visit the Italian Pavilion for the signing of the Milan Charter before arriving at the Pavilion of Palestine in the Arid Zones Cluster from 14:00. Cultural events will take place in the evening from 19:30 at the Auditorium where the group, Le Trio Joubran, will perform. The group is made up of three brothers belonging to a musical family spanning four generations. This will be followed by another performance by El-Funoun who will give the audience the chance to immerse themselves in the culture, roots and history of Palestine.
