On the occasion of "The other half of the Planet - Women's Weeks , the cycle of events from June 29 to July 10 will add to all that Expo Milano 2015 offers and provide the public with information on the issue of women's empowerment, Tuesday, June 30 the stage of the Expo Center will host a special edition of "Ferite a morte" (Lethal Injuries). Presented in a format designed by Serena Dandini, the show is an anthology of monologues which tell the stories of women who have been battered or killed by men. The play was co-written with Maura Misiti , and the project comes to Expo Milano 2015 thanks to the invitation from Emma Bonino, president of WE-Women for Expo. Ornella Vanoni and Arisa are among the monologue readers.
Women without a voice: from the pages of newspapers to theaters
The stage of the Universal Exposition will feature guests like Ornella Vanoni, Isabella Ferrari, Arisa, Chiara Francini, Anilda Ibrahimi, along with Emma Bonino, Serena Dandini and Lella Costa, Ambassador of Expo Milano 2015 and Ambassador and spokesperson for WE-Women for Expo, the General Commissioners women and the participants of the Women's Forum Italy. Female figures from entertainment, politics and culture will read the stories extracted from the pages of newspapers. The material from the newspapers provides an ever growing list of women who have suffered violence at home. "The culprits are often husbands, boyfriends or exes", says Serena Dandini."It's a family tragedy that sadly continues to fill the pages of our daily newspapers." The crimes reported are only the tip of the iceberg, "This is why we think that we should not stop talking about it and to try, even through theater, to raise public awareness as much as possible ".
"Ferite a morte" tours the world and arrives at Expo Milano 2015
Created in 2012, the format almost immediately developed an international tone. From "Ferite a morte" has been accompanied by the international tour that so far has stopped in such cities as New York, Washington, Brussels, London, Tbilisi, Mexico City, Tunis and Istanbul. The show presents some of the most prominent female personalities in the countries that host the event.
A special event on June 30 at Expo Milano 2015 with a reading has been organized with the support of Giorgio Armani, with free admission and open to all, subject to availability.
