(AGI) Milan, April 24 - Bahrain has readied its 2,000 metrepavilion for the Milan Expo, showcasing the country's ancientculture. It is a story of the agrarian heritage of thearchipelago, told through a concept landscape: ten orchards,one for each native tree, that will bear fruit at differenttimes. The pavilion, called 'Archaeologies of Green', wasdesigned by Dutch architect Anne Holtrop in collaboration withlandscape architect Anouk Vogel. It consists of whiteprefabricated concrete panels referring to the inherent anddistinguished forms of the archaeology of Bahrain. Thestructure is fully removable and reusable. At the end of theExpo, it will be transported to Bahrain and transformed into abotanical garden. An exhibition of archaeological artefactsfrom the ancient civilisation of Dilmun and Tylos will be setup in the orchards and a short film on the current agriculturallandscape of Bahrain shown in the pavilion. The country willalso organise a range of events during the six months of theExpo. For example, a cookbook based on Bahrain's culinarytradition will be presented and there will be a fashionexhibition curated by Bahraini stylist Hind Matar. Throughoutthe event, food typical of the country will be served, preparedby chef Narise Kamber.. .
