(AGI) Prague, Sept 22 - The Italian Culture Institute in Praguewill present present "Desert - The Last Remaining Snow" onThursday, an exhibition by Francesca Consigli and WilliamSantoleri showing the tens of thousands of steps taken througha stone desert at over 2,500 metres of altitude in the heart ofItaly's Central Appennines, in the pursuit of the last tracesof summer snow on the Majella plateau. The exhibition displaysimages of several stops along an artistic and research-orientedjourney, including documentary material such as topographicalmaps, photographs in black and white, newspaper clippings, travel diaries and samples, installations and paintings by thetwo authors. The project is conceived inside a PineCube, aplace of meditation made of wood, iron and glass suspendedamidst the branches of a pine tree in the park of the Majellamassif. The exhibition's itinerary, curated by ChiaraSerri, is divided in two parts: the first section in the SalaCapitolare includes videos, findings and documents; the secondsection is in the Baroque Chapel and displays a dozen works, created with a mixed technique, placed in the lateral niches. The two artists drew their inspiration from "Spaziergang", apoem written by Rainer Maria Rilke in 1924 and they chosePrague for their exhibition because they wanted to complete theproject with another walk on the "Giant Mountains" in the CzechRepublic, in order to create a connection between Majella andKrkonose.
