(AGI) Rome, June 8 - Toyota Motor Italia has appealed to thecountry's institutions to create and implement a 'hydrogenhighway' network, providing hydrogen-equipped service stations.During the presentation of the Mirai hydrogen-powered salooncar in Genoa last week, CEO Andrea Carlucci also called for thedevelopment and use of this major energy resource to become areality: "Mirai is the future, not in name only, but also interms of design, aimed to help safeguard the environment andlife values. It marks the beginning of an actual and ongoingrevolution in the way cars are conceived and how the concept ofsustainable mobility is viewed and experienced in Italy. Toyotahas been working towards the development and creation ofecological vehicles for more than 40 years, geared to promotingthe concept of sustainable mobility. Respect for theenvironment is a fundamental mission, which is why we believethat developing hydrogen-powered vehicles, such as the Mirai,is the right way forward not just for our clients but also interms of zero impact." Mr Carlucci also said "Italy waspenalised from the point of view of both infrastructures andlegislation. Under the current rules, service stations can onlysupply hydrogen at pressures of up to 350 BAR, but modern fuelcell tanks guarantee absolutely safe operations at 700 BAR." . .
