SPECIAL "WEEK OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE" TO BE HELD IN CHILE

(VELINO) Roma, 1 Oct - The "Week of Italian Language" in Chile,which will also fall under the "Year of Italy in LatinAmerica", will feature a number of special events for its 2015edition. The Italian Cultural Institute in Santiago hasorganised a series of meetings with prominent members of theItalian-Chilean artistic world, in collaboration with theItalian embassy to Chile, the national library of Chile (BNC),and Chile's bureau for libraries, archives, and museums(DIBAM). Conferences, exhibitions, laboratories, musicalperformances and movie screenings will be held at the ItalianCultural Institute and the BNC. The main event will be "Chilerecounts Italy through its writers", during which notable localauthors will describe what Italy represents for them. All ofthe guest authors have ties with Italy, through having livedthere, or through family, or simply for having been fascinatedand influenced by Italian literature. The speakers will beMaria Jose' Viera-Gallo, Jorge Baradit, and two winners ofChile's national literature prize, Raul Zurita and AntonioSkarmeta. The first event will take place on October 7 withViera-gallo, who lived in Italy till the age of 13 followingthe military coup in Chile. vel.
