(AGI) Vatican City, June 30 - The Vatican has published theprogramme of the official visit of Pope Francis to Cuba, to theUN Assembly and to the United States, during the 8th WorldMeeting of Families, to be held in Philadelphia from 19-28September. At the different stops during his trip, the Pontiffwill deliver a total of 24 addresses, including 9 homilies orAngelus prayers, 13 speeches and 2 greetings, reported abulletin by the Holy See. The Pope will make his first stop atHavana and will also visit Santiago de Cuba. Then on the 22ndhe will be in Washington and on the 24th in New York, where hewill visit the UN on the 25th while on the 26th of September hewill depart for Philadelphia where he will attend theInternational Meeting of Families. So, Pope Francis willarrive in Havana, Cuba, at 4 p.m. of Saturday 19 September (10p.m. CET). On Sunday, September 20, Pope Francis will celebratemass on Plaza de la Revolucion, the landmark square of thevisits of popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Later that day,Pope Francis will pay a courtesy visit to Raul Castro. Then hewill celebrate Vespers in the city's cathedral and greet theyouth of the Centro Cultural Padre Felix Varela. On Monday 21,the Pope will visit the city of Holguin, 150 km from thecapital. Here, on Plaza Calisto Garcia, the Pope will officiatehis second mass in Cuba. After that, he will depart forSantiago de Cuba where he will meet the bishops and visit theshrine of Nuestra Senora de la Caridad del Cobre, where he willsay mass and meet with families. On Wednesday 23, at 9:30a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. CET), the Pope will pay a courtesyvisit to the U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House andsubsequently visit St. Matthew Cathedral, where he will meetwith the American bishops. At 4:25 p.m. (10:25 p.m. CET) hewill visit the national Shrine of the Immaculate Conception,where he will canonise Junipero Serra. The Pope's visit to theCongress is scheduled for September 24, where he will addressthe members of both Houses, assembled in a joint session. Hewill then visit a charity centre at the St. Patrick ParishChurch and meet with a group of homeless people. Still on the24th, he will then fly to New York where he will celebrateVespers with the clergy and monks and nuns in St. PatrickCathedral. The Pope is scheduled to visit the UN Buildingat 8:30 a.m. (2:30 p.m. CET) of Friday, September 25th. ThePontiff will address the UN General Assembly and then meet withthe Organisation's staff and personnel. He will then visit theGround Zero Memorial on the grounds of the New World TradeCenter, where once stood the Twin Towers that were destroyed bya terrorist attack on 9/11 2001. On the Pope's agenda is also avisit to a school in Harlem to meet the children of immigrantfamilies, and he will close the day with a mass celebrated inMadison Square Garden. He will arrive in Philadelphia onSaturday, September 26, to attend the World Meeting ofFamilies. On Sunday the 27th, he will visit the detainees atPhiladelphia's Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility. Hisreturn trip to Rome is set for the evening of September 27, andhe will land in Rome's Ciampino Airport on the followingmorning. (AGI) . .
