(AGI) Moscow, Dec 16 - After exhibiting pieces by artists suchas Raffaello, Bernini, Botticelli, and Caravaggio, the Italianembassy in Moscow will host Giovanni Bellini for the secondtime. His Madonna of the Red Cherubims will be on show onTuesday in the heart of the capital in the Berg Villa. Theevent is a prelude to the inauguration on Thursday of the"Piero della Francesca and Contemporary Artists" exhibition,which will be held in the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts tillFebruary 22. The exhibition - set within the framework ofItaly's duty presidency of the EU and the Russia-ItalyCross-Year of Tourism - will feature four paintings by Italianmasters from the 1400s with the Madonna and Child as a commontheme. "This is an exhibition with great artistic andscientific value, especially due to the presence of amasterpiece such as the Madonna di Senigallia, which was onlyattributed to Piero della Francesca in 1854", Ambassador CesareMaria Ragaglini stated during the embassy's presentation of theevent. "Cultural relations have always been a pillar of thebilateral ties between Italy and Russia, and they have allowedour two nations and peoples to maintain an intense level ofdialogue even during the more arduous phases on theinternational scene", he added. Ambassador Ragaglini thenthanked the Pushkin Museum "for its interest in bringing newItalian masterpieces to Moscow for the next few months andyears", including some by Michelangelo, Dante, and theCaravaggisti.
