(AGI) Rome, Oct 20 - Actress Monica Bellucci was due to stepout on the red carpet on Tuesday at Sala Sinopoli auditoriumfor the first Italian screening of "Ville-Marie" on the fifthday of the Rome Film Festival. The Italian diva appears in thesecond feature by Guy Edoin (also present in Rome), director ofaward-winning shorts, and author of "Marecages", presented atthe Critics' Week in Venice. With his new film, in theFestival's Official Selection, the Canadian film directorchronicles the lives of four problematic characters whointersect during a disastrous event at Ville-Marie on a darknight in Montreal. As the director explained, the choice ofMonica Bellucci for one of the main roles - with the othersplayed by Pascale Bussieres, Aliocha Schneider and PatrickHivon - took no time at all. "During the casting, when wedecided we wanted her for the role of Sophie Bernard, Monicawas not unavailable. We were lucky because the script touchedher as a woman, mother and actress," so she accepted. "A fewdays later I met her in Paris and we started to build a verytrusting, strong human relationship," the director continued.Monica is an extraordinary actress who played her role withincredible talent and generosity, as she had never dared to dobefore. For her acting in 'Ville-Marie' was like metaphoricallystepping out of her clothes as an actress and I feel veryprivileged that she trusted me so fully," Mr Edoin concluded.(AGI). .
