ITALY AND INDONESIA SIGN INDUSTRIAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT

(VELINO) Roma, 15 Dec - Italy and Indonesia signed an agreementin Jakarta to cooperate in industrial development. The eightyear Memorandum of Understanding aims to encourage partnershipsbetween public and private industrial firms, strengthen anddevelop Indonesia's infrastructure through vocational trainingand intensify cooperation. It also aims to encourage industrialresearch, the sharing of expertise and participation inconferences and seminars. Indonesia's textile industrytechnology centres in Bandung and shoe manufacturers inSurabaya will be modernised with help from Italian tradeassociations ACIMIT and ASSOMAC. Italian ambassador, FedericoFailla, said the deal was one of the results of the SystemMission held in Indonesia in May 2013. "It examined thepossibility of cooperation between government and tradeassociations in textiles, leather and footwear, spare parts andindustrial components and new materials, and may be extended toother industrial sectors that the parties intend to develop,"he said. vel.
