ITALY AND BRAZIL INCREASE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH COOPERATION

(VELINO) Roma, 21 Sep - The International Network of Centresfor Relativistic Astrophysics (ICRANet) has signed 10cooperation agreements with the University of Brasilia,designed to facilitate the exchange of PhD students andresearchers in relativistic astrophysics. The agreements weresigned by the Director of ICRANet Remo Ruffini and ViceChancellor of the Brazilian university Sonia Nair Bao in aceremony, which was also attended by the Italian embassy inBrasilia with its scientific officer, who expressed the supportof the Italian government for the cooperation activitiespromoted by the agreement. Indeed, the framework agreement hasbeen signed within the guidelines drawn up by the Italy-BrazilJoint Commission for scientific and technological cooperation.ICRANet is an organisation whose members include ICRA, StanfordUniversity, the University of Tucson and four countries: Italy,Vatican City, Armenia and Brazil (http://www.icranet.org). Thecoordination office is in Pescara, and the aims of the researchcentre network include training and research in the field ofastrophysics, and international scientific cooperation. vel.
