Italian Biogas Consortium at Brussels Methane Conference

(AGI) Rome, May 29 - The Italian Biogas Consortium (CIB),representing companies producing biogas for agricultural use,participated in a meeting entitled "(Bio)Methane, The Road toSustainable Mobility", held in the Bibliotheque Solvay inBrussels. The event was also attended by Fiat ChryslerAutomobiles (FCA) and CNH Industrial, which supported theEuropean Natural and bio Gas Vehicle Association (NGVA Europe)and the European Biogas Association (EBA), of which the CIB isan executive member, in the organisation of the event. "Theevent was a great opportunity to revisit the virtuous circle ofbiomethane and its benefits, with reference to Europeanpolicies for sustainable mobility," said the organisers in apress release. "The occasion offered FCA, CNH Industrialand the CIB the chance to demonstrate their continuedcommitment to bio-methane as an alternative means of achievingincreasingly sustainable mobility," continued the communique'.The conference highlighted the case of the Societa' agricolaPrincipi di Porcia in Azzano Decimo (Pordenone, northernItaly), which promoted an ambitious long-term sustainabilityproject integrating traditional wine-making and agro-foodproduction with different alternative energy sources. "We asinstitutions, together with industry and civil society mustcontinue to work to meet the increasingly ambitious goalsrelated to reducing CO2 emissions. Bio-methane and relatedinnovations require investment because it can make an importantcontribution to enhancing the agricultural sector as well astruly sustainable mobility," remarked Giovanni La Via, Chairmanof the European Parliament's Committee on the Environment,Public Health and Food Safety. "Biomethane is a product onwhich we need to focus investments and innovation because itcan make a key contribution to upgrading the agriculturalsector and truly sustainable mobility." (AGI) . .
