Eni awarded two new licenses in Egyptian offshore

(AGI) Rome, Oct 12 - Eni has been awarded two new explorationlicenses located in the Egyptian offshore of the MediterraneanSea, in the competitive 2015 EGAS bid round. The Italianoil and gas giant has become an operator in the North El Hammadblock with a stake of 37.5 percent, where it partners with BP(37.5 percent) and Total (25 percent), and it has a 50 percentparticipating interest in North Ras El Esh, where it partnerswith BP (50 percent) which will act as operator. The twoblocks, which will be operated by Eni's subsidiary IEOC, are inthe shallow waters of the Mediterranean Sea, facing the NileDelta and located southwest of the Temsah area and west of theBaltim area, where Eni operates existing fields and productionfacilities. The North El Hammad and North Ras El Esh blockscover areas of 1,389 and 1,927 square kilometres respectively. These two new concession agreements follow the recentaward of the deep water Karawan and North Leil blocks,strengthening Eni's presence in Egypt, a country of historicand strategic importance for the Company, and furtherrelaunching its exploration activities after the recent andimportant successes of Nidoco NW and Zohr. Eni has beenpresent in Egypt since 1954 and is the main producer in thecountry with an equity of approximately 190,000 barrels of oilequivalent per day. . .
