Alice had already been selected as MissCinema, Miss Beauty Company and Miss Diva and Donna. Hervictory as Miss Italy came on the birthday of one of cinema'sgreatest stars, Sophia Loren. For the previous three years, thecrown had been won by girls from Sicily (Giusy Buscemi, GuliaAreana and the outgoing Miss Italy, Clarissa Marchese). Thecontest, organised by Patrizia Mirigliani, saw more than 10,000girls enrol for the selection process - a record number. Eversince she was elected Miss Lazio, Alice had been a favourite towin Miss Italy. She now embarks on a 'new' life. She wascrowned by Claudio Amendola, who made up the three-man juryalong with Joe Bastianich and Vladimir Luxuria, each of whomacted as tutors to 11 finalists. UC Sampdoria President MassimoFerrero made a guest appearance, cracking a few jokes. Otherguests included Morgan, Giusy Ferreri and Baby K, along withFrancesco Facchinetti, and Pippo Pelo in the Radio Kiss Kissbox. The Miss Italy event also was popular on social networks,with the hashtag #missitalia trending on Twitter, the fifthmost popular hashtag at a global level. The La7 television shownetted a 5.12 percent share, with 857,000 people tuned in, moreor less in line with the previous year. Other national titleswere awarded in the run-up to Sunday's finals: Miss Cotonellato Viola Martina Porta; Miss Miluna to Anita Roncari; MissSport Lotto to Letizia Moschin; Miss Rocchetta Bellezza toNoemi Bosco; Miss Equilibra to Valeria Valentini; Miss EleganzaJoseph Ribkoff to Chiara Giuffrida; Miss Sorriso Blanx toFrancesca Busti; Miss Simpatia Interflora and Miss Sorrisi eCanzoni to Ginevra Bertolani; Miss Curvy Keyra' went toVincenza Botti, who was also selected as the voice of RadioKiss Kiss.
