(VELINO) Roma, 26 Jun - The new opportunities offered toItalian industry by the U.S. Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT)and the means of accessing it were the focus of a seminar heldat the auditorium of the Italian embassy in Washington, invideoconference with the headquarters of the GeneralSecretariat of Defence of the Italian Ministry of Defence. TheFCT programme is a stepping-stone for non-U.S. companieswishing to enter the U.S. defence market. Participatingcompanies can use Foreign Comparative Testing to present theirinnovative technologies. Where there is interest on the U.S.side, this may result in subsequent and specific cooperationand acquisition programmes. The meeting was opened by Italianmilitary attache', General Giovanni Fantauzzi, who alsomoderated the interventions of two representatives of the U.S.Defense Department, Air Force colonels Matthew E. Zuber andScott T. Wallace, respectively staff member of the office ofthe Secretary of Defense and Director of the ComparativeTechnology Office at the Pentagon. The two officers stressedthat Italy is one of the most important partners of the UnitedStates and that both countries are in the front line of majorinternational operations. It is thus essential to haveequipment that facilitates full interoperability between thetwo armed forces. The event, organised by the GeneralSecretariat of Defence with the office of the defence attache'at the Italian embassy, follows the dialogue established inprevious years over research and development. vel.
