(AGI) Milan, Sept. 23 - D'Amico International Shipping hasannounced that it has entered into an agreement for theconstruction and sale of two new long range (LR1 - 75,000 dwt)product tanker vessels with Hyundai. The Italian companyoperates on an international scale in the sector of maritimetransport with its subsidiary d'Amico Tankers Limited. Theships will be built in Vietnam and are expected to be deliveredin 2018. The total investment for this order is about 44million dollars each. The two double-hull tankers are part of anew and modern generation of eco-design ships, with very lowconsumption. "The new vessels will feature an Energy EfficientDesign Index rating well within the IMO phase-in 2 requirementsdue for vessels to be built before 31 December 2024, being of25 percent lower than the current IMO reference line," thecompany said in a statement. D'Amico International Shippingcurrently controls a fleet of 48 double-hull product tankerswith an average age of about 7.8 years, of which 23 are ownedand 25 are chartered-in vessels. The Italian shipping companyhas currently 14 new eco-design product tanker shipbuildingcontracts, all under construction at Hyundai Vinashin ShipyardCo.. .
